Catherine, Because of your comment yesterday, today I let Jack give me the last bite of his yogurt at snack time. He wanted to share it with me--had given me two bites already--and normally I would have said, "No, honey, you eat it," but today I received his act of love with gratitude. And you know what? He was a delight the rest of the afternoon, helpful, quick to respond to my requests, even got Jane a snack when she woke up--without being asked. Maybe there's no correlation between my letting him love on me earlier, but I do wonder. When I received his act of love with humility, perhaps it inspired him to love more. Even if it didn't, it was good practice for me to receive his love, and harder than I would have expected!

I think that receiving love is part of the challenge. We have stop to think about/meditate on God's love, to let Him come in, to give up being self sufficient. Then are we enabled for the acts of love.

I am not disagreeing with you. What you wrote just resonates and so I have this response. It is marvelous to remember that Jesus transforms those small choices to show love does truly draw us into His love, and allow us the magnificent privilege to be part of His work.
