Agent #6

When I got home from my vacation, I had an email from Agent #6. She said my story is unique and that she enjoyed reading my sample pages. Wahoo!

And then she said, no thanks.

Actually, she said what agents always say when they are rejecting you, which is that after careful consideration they have realized they are not the best person to represent your work. And that is the sum total of information that you get. That, and an exhortation to keep submitting because all agents are different and opinions vary and you only need one agent to say yes.

Yes. That would be a nice word to hear.

Not that I’m bitter or anything. (I’m trying hard not to be, though I have my moments.) Still, I confess I’m confused that a unique story and a well-written sample still got rejected.

What do I do with that?

Well, first I cried.

Then I sent out another query letter.

You did the right thing to make yourself feel right, crying and keep trying. I hope it happens for you SOON :)
