Classes and Retreats
Advent and Christmas: On the Road to Bethlehem
Does December feel a blur of frenzied activity? Do you just want to stop sometimes and breathe? In this retreat we’ll reflect on the lectionary readings for these seasons of Advent and Christmas, focusing on Mary and the magi. As we delve into their stories, we’ll look at our own, and prayerfully consider how we too can prepare for Christmas joyfully and celebrate it extravagantly—without losing our minds. A two-session mini-retreat or two-week class. 1 hour per session.
Lent: On the Road to Jerusalem
Lent is a season of darkness. In this retreat, we’ll reflect on Jesus’ encounters with Nicodemus (John 3), the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4), the man born blind (John 9), and Martha and Mary of Bethany (John 11). The readings will prompt us to ponder the ways Christ meets us in the dark places of our lives. A four-session retreat or four-week class. 1 hour per session.
Ordinary Time: Meeting God in the Laundry Room
Most of our lives are lived in this season called Ordinary Time. It can be dull and seem pointless. But it’s not. It too is holy. In this retreat we’ll look at the stories of Anna and Simeon in Luke 2 and Peter, James, and John in Luke 9 to help us learn to pay attention to the movements of God in the midst of our daily lives. A two-session mini-retreat or two-week class. 1 hour per session.
Each of the retreat/class sessions can also be presented for a shorter event.
